CHANDIGARH: Disturbed by the deplorable condition of the families of Indian prisoners lodged in Pakistan jails, California-based NRI organisation North American Punjabi Association (NAPA) has urged the Punjab government to rehabilitate them and take up their cases with the Union ministry of external affairs.
NAPA, while alluding to the case of an Indian spy Gopal Dass (50), whose sentence was remitted by Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari two years ago, said that such cases have set a bad precedence for Indian youth opting to work for the premier intelligence agencies of the country.

“The least the governments can do for such families who lost their member in the services of country is offer them a respectable life,” said NAPA president Satnam Chahal, in a statement issued from California.
“This should be of course on the pattern of Sarbjit,” he added.
