Jalandhar: Slamming the public grievances redress and monitoring system of the state NRI department, Satnam Chahal, chairman, US-Based North American Punjabi Association (NAPA), said: “The portal is useless as the authorities have failed to redress the issues and grievances filed by NRIs during their stay in the state.”
“I had requested an audience from the state government on December 23, 2015 to discuss a case in which 11 youth went missing near the Mexico border in 2011 and even gave registration number of the complaint. However, despite spending two months in India, my request is still ‘under process’,” said Chahal.
While slamming the crashing of the NRI grievances system in the state, Chahal said the state government has failed to address the concerns of NRI Diaspora. “The Punjab NRI Sabha has even failed to elect a president after the culmination of the tenure of the former president. The state government has failed to establish NRI fast track courts in the state. Also, this year, the state government could not hold NRI Sangat Darshan,” said Chahal.
